- I personally haven't seen system 7.5 (although I've been having a look at
- Shapeshifter - all I need is a friend with a MAC! :)) but Windows really
- does suck (having to use it for most university work means I use it too
- often!) Given the choice I usually steer clear of the PC's and head for the
- Unix machines! (even if some of them only have vt100 terminals!)

-
- Ok, so copying a file takes a while, and admittedly Workbench still has a
- few problems (such as when you copy a file it won't let you start up
- anything else!) The answer is to start up all the programs you wish to use
- before you copy the file and then you can switch to them while the file is
- copying. Another solution is to copy the file using the CLI (or Shell)
- which would leave workbench completely free to do whatever. (In fact, I use
- Directory OPUS for copying files leaving my workbench to run whatever :))

-
- As far as I know you can do what you just suggested (I do it quite often -
- since rendering takes a while and I want to do other things besides wait
- twenty minutes for my A4000 with Imagine to finish!)
-
- The answer is to start up the renderer first (you don't necessarily need to
- start the render straight away), start the page of text printing and then
- copy the file (if you want to use Workbench exclusively).
-
- Of course, if you use the CLI (or Shell) as I suggested then you could
- start any of them at any time. (Although, even on my A4000 I still get the
- odd slow down - but that could be due to the fact that I'm running about 15
- commodities in the background!)
-
- I find that the Workbench system can be vastly improved with just a few
- commodities: KingCON is brilliant, Yak is useful (shortcuts for things like
- Open CLI) and Toolsdaemon (runs frequently used programs from the menu
- bar).

- Erm...pardon?
-
- Hmmm, hope the above makes sense, I've just read through it and it seem to
- be very long!
-
- Gerald.
- PS My opinion may be slightly biased since I have an A4000/030/68882 @25
- MHz with 2Mb Chip and 8 Mb fast and 120Mb HD. (High density floppy is nice
- as well - 1.76MB! :))
